We were hungry when we arrived, so we drove to the summit (about 3500 feet but straight up from sea level) to have our picnic lunch. It was absolutely freezing up there unfortunately as we shivered away in our fleece. So after taking in the views and standing on the (indoor) summit, we drove back down the mountain to a rock grouping known as "Rock City". This is basically a sandstone layer from the ocean floor that was exposed when the mountain was created. The sandstone made for great "bouldering" conditions and Amanda and I scampered up and down rocks and into caves all afternoon. Fun Fun!
