It was a beautiful 80-degree blue sky weekend and seeing as though rainy season it about to set in we opted to pack as much into the weekend as possible. We started Saturday with the zoo. With the kiddo's love of animal books and animal sounds, we thought he would really be into it. He loved the children's zoo and petting the goats and sheep, liked the monkey's and loved the elephant but what kept him the most interested was the ducks and signs. Rather than the $20 we spent on the zoo, we could have gone to the park 5 miles from the house. But at the park you don't get ice cream...
Then after a long nap, we headed to the mall for new shoes and dinner. And because its the only non-ethnic restaurant at the mall, we ate somewhere that had a grown-up arcade attached. While I drank a cocktail in peace at the table - daddy and the kiddo had fun with the games.
And then today it was off for the kiddo's first hike through the redwoods. He kept saying "ooooo". And was obsessed with finding the perfect walking stick. It took us 1 hour of walking to go on a half a mile trail. He walked almost the whole way except for the part that he asked to ride in the backpack. And for the most part - he stayed on the trail. (I know it looks like we were hiking at night... but it was 11am with a perfectly blue sky... the forest was so thick it blocked all light)
