Tick Teat (aka Trick or Treat)

It was a dark and stormy morning. Literally - we lost power until 11:30 am and it was the first time it had rained in 6 months and it was early - 6 am. We ran around in the dark before lunching at McDonalds (I was conserving the cold fridge) and heading off to our Halloween party with our playgroup. Then we went trick or treating at a local shopping center after our nap and after dinner we figured we'd go visit our neighbors on either side for some short trick or treating - since we were well past bedtime and had had a long day. All of this while dressed as a monkey who had a coat thick enough to be living in Alaska but where the weather was actually more like south Florida.

Now most people have "their holiday". Some people love Christmas. Some people love the Fourth of July. Johnathan is definitely a Halloween kid. He was made for it. It involves his favorite things - carrying a bucket around, saying Thank You, meeting new people, being outside and saying bye-bye.

We went to the first house and once he learned that he couldn't go inside, he started liking this Halloween thing. And after we went to the second house he ran ahead on the sidewalk saying "more more". So our dressed-too-warmly, been-up-since-6, had-a-short-nap and a long day, passed-his-bedtime-kid went trick or treating at almost every house around our whole block. And carried his own bucket filled with all the candy and then gave out candy to a few neighbor kids.

And then after such a long day, Johnathan went to sleep and mommy ate his candy.
