No Tricks, Just Treats

After a rocky start to the morning, the Great Pumpkin rose out of the US Mail truck and dropped his Halloween box of treats at our doorstep after lunch (courtesy of the grandparents). Among the treats were the funds for us to purchase Johnathan a grocery cart (the Great Pumpkin and Santa Claus are big fans of gift cards at this house).

And so after our little goblin arose from his nap, off to Target we ran. The remainder of the afternoon was blissful. He played with the new toy (and found many ways to play). We relaxed. And then we decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Applebees at 4:45 pm and we had a great time with the kiddo (two phrases that often don't go together).

He loved drinking his water out of a kiddie cup and straw. We had matchbox car races across the table while we waited for dinner. He ate only off the kids menu. He never asked to get up. And since things were going so well, we treated ourselves to the little dessert bites and gave Johnathan his own little ramekin of whipped cream. He thought it was the coolest thing in the world. And when a giant stuffed bee stopped by our table to say hello, he didn't freak out (like I almost did) but just laughed.
