Its day two with pneumonia and he seems to be responding to the cocktail of drugs that has me on a schedule complete with round the clock wakings. In other words - we're not scared that he's going to stop breathing at any minute and have to call 911. Though a packed bag is sitting next to the door (we've been using it for all of the fast urgent care trips).
But with all these drugs comes bizarre side effects that are messing with his mind. We had been warned but here's a sampling...
At 3am last night, he woke up screaming. Took him out of his crib and he went to his bookshelf and picked up his dinosaur book and demanded it be read to him. Of course he picked the one with all these complex dinosaur names and my glasses remained beside my bed.
At 5 am last night he woke up and demanded through his cries a blue granola bar (which took forever to decipher on my part) and then sat at the table, ate it, drank some water and went right back to bed.
And just now - at 9 pm - he woke up screaming for his red pajamas. He was wearing the exact same pair only in blue.
We're tired.
