Yesterday morning, at 7 am we were out of bed and racing to get dressed and out the door so we could be in Atlantic Beach to eat a hotel buffet breakfast at 10 am. We made it with 5 minutes to spare and thoroughly enjoyed powdered doughnuts, pre-packaged cereal and honey buns.
While I would have been content to just buy my husband a dozen Krispy Kremes and call it a day, this breakfast was an integral part of his childhood memories at Oceananna and we were not going to miss a minute of our action packed day.
Back in the heyday, Ben's entire extended family would take up an entire building for a week and roam wild on the beach, at the playground, in the pool, and all over this "resort" (I use the term loosely). And yesterday, the cousin-generation reunited and brought their kids for a few days to experience the fun. We opted for a day trip.
From a child's perspective, its like Disney at the beach. There are push toys and see-saws, and swings, and slides and playgrounds. There's the pool and the beach and the pier. Johnathan had a blast and we loved watching him have all the fun that a little Ben had years ago. From my husband's perspective, it hadn't changed in 20 years. And from my perspective, a little renovation would go a long way.
