Once upon a time there were two little boys. The elder was named Johnathan and the younger was named Matthew. Johnathan had given his mommy and daddy quite a bit of grief before he came into this world and though he was a very active child requiring constant stimulation he was a good child and had grown into a very helpful preschooler. As most babies do, Johnathan had his days and nights confused for quite a while and wasn't interested in sleeping alone or being left alone for a second. He had very tired parents.
On September 29 at noon, Johnathan got a new baby brother named Matthew. Matthew was a little fellow, weighing in at just 7lbs 4 oz (4 oz less than big bro) and 19.5 inches (half an inch longer than bro) but with extremely long fingers and toes. Before he came into the world, he was nothing like his brother. He made his mommy tired but that was it. Ironically, both boys were born at 37 weeks and 4 days.
For Matthew's first week, he had his days and nights confused for 1 day but last night slept in 3.5 hour increments, in his crib, in his room, alone. No massive amounts of rocking, soothing or pacifying were needed. We had one night of that before we realized that he was just hungry. When he's awake, he likes to be held but will also hang out in the pack and play or lay on the floor content to just observe. Our biggest issue is that he's so little we've had to go and buy a few newborn sleepers and we're working so hard to get his weight back up that the tiniest of diapers that still swallow him whole just can't keep it all in - requiring lots of washing of those new sleepers and sheets and Granna's shirts which seem to be a target for him to spray when she changes his diaper.
Johnathan and Matthew are quite a pair. All Johnathan wants to do is help. Hold the baby, rock the baby, find the pacifier, feed the baby - even help change the diaper. He runs to Matthew first when he comes home to check on him. But I do think that just as they say having a baby makes you look 10 years older, having a baby brother makes you look and feel like a 5 year old.
Answer: Matthew is on top.
