We had a very eventful weekend of firsts...
1. Our first boat ride
2. Our first hike
3. Our first time that rednecks made us feel like a circus sideshow
4. Our first call to 911
5. Our first fire truck
As you can see the weekend went a little downhill...

1. Our first boat ride - We've been wanting to go to Angel Island for 2 years and decided this was the weekend for it and thus took the ferry. Kiddo was a little scared of the engines on the way over but fell asleep on the way back.
2. Our first hike - I don't know if he just gets bored in the house or loves to be outside but this kid is an angel whenever we take him on "big adventures". And always sleeps great the next day.

3. Our first time that rednecks made us feel like a circus sideshow - Since the hike is 5 miles long, obviously I had to feed the kid. We found a nice bench away from the trail where no one was, then the family I will affectionately call the Clampets came up - about 6 adults and 4 preteens.

Word of advice, if you see a mom with a blanket hanging around her neck and only tiny feet sticking out (and she was there first) give her a little space. Don't come running over when she's trying to put herself back together and burp the baby and ooh and ahh. And when your kid asks THE question of the weekend "What's that white stuff coming out of his mouth" you might want to answer or someone less kind than me might give the kid one heck of an anatomy lesson.
4. Our first call to 911 and the first fire truck - Damn contractors next door. Truck

caught fire - just sitting there in our shared driveway - 2 feet away from my car. Now I wouldn't mind a new car or a few changes to the house but this is NOT the way I'd like to do it. Our neighbor down the street used our hose to put it out while Ben frantically moved the cars. No damage to our stuff (the contractor suffers from a completely melted truck)....just a few tense moments.
Through all of this kiddo was attached to me in the Baby Bjorn and didn't utter a peep. It's amazing how sometimes he just knows that now is not the time.

"Ex-cellent"
